Los Cochinos is an established Latin rock and Soul band, said by many to have been “passed the torch” from Carlos Santana as one of the only original, Latin Rock and Soul bands that continue to create and perform original Latin Rock music.  Los Cochinos has developed a large following and has released two CDs, most recently “Los Cochinos” in 2017.  The band is currently working to complete new songs for our next CD titled "Patricia", in honor of Alfonso's mother Patricia.  The CD will be released in 2024.

The band’s sound has been described as similar to that of Santana, El Chicano, War and Tower of Power. The band also includes some tasty covers that will keep you on the dance floor!  Los Cochinos have performed with El Chicano, Malo and many other notable bands and have developed a significant following throughout the U.S. and globally.

The band features Alfonso Portillo on guitar, followed by super talented and seasoned player "The Professor" , Donald Osborne on keyboards. On Sax is the spectacular Ric Alexander.  Ric plays two saxophones at one time and also performs with Tony! Toni! Toné!  Up front is the talented singer, percussionist and saxophonist John Marin.  On bass is the talented Fauss Gamulo and on rhythm guitar is the phenomenal Raj Gopal.  

Our solid Latin percussion section is led by Karl Perrazo (Santana) protege Tomas Montano on timbales.  On congas from East Oakland is the talented conguero Miguel Martinez.  Our sensational drummer is Lorenzo "Lonnie" Macon.  Lonnie also is a talented singer, and plays guitar, bass and keyboards!

The ballad “Feel the Same” from our last CD "Los Cochinos" has been a hit song for the band and receives radio airtime in both Northern and Southern California markets.

In addition to booking shows for Los Cochinos, Jeff has over fifty-three years in the music business, from promoting records and concerts to producing and managing.  Jeff has worked with The Rolling Stones, Linda Rondstadt, The Eagles, Curtis Mayfield, Ray Charles, The Gap Band, Pavarotti, The Bee Gees, Moody Blues, Joni Mitchell, Kool & The Gang, Gap Band, Lenny Williams, Rick Stevens and Ike & Tina Turner, among others.  

Jeff was responsible for the breaking out of “Nights in White Satin” by the Moody Blues, “I’ve Been loving you too Long” by Ike & Tina Turner, “Help Me” by Joni Mitchell, to the academy award winning “Theme to the Chariots of Fire” by Vangelis.  

Jeff continues to promote concerts and fundraisers for public schools in Solano County and for Breast Cancer Awareness as well as creating the very successful Vallejo based festival “Dock Of The Bay”.  Jeff has co-produced with Dr Rock & Latin Rock, Inc., ten very successful "Voices of Latin Rock" Autism Awareness Benefit concerts.

Los Cochinos music used in "Jorge Santana" film soundtrack!

Los Cochinos' music, along with that of Jorge Santana's nephew Salvador Santana, was used on the soundtrack of a recently released documentary on Jorge Santana created by Texas film maker Cynthia Garcia.  We are honored to be a part of this tribute to one of the beloved sons of San Francisco-Jorge Santana...
